Kaupang-Jernaldergården 2009 - English
|
The Hafrsfjordvikings are gathering it's friende for a vikingmarked from friday 19. to sunday 21. juni. This year it all happens on the hill Ullandhaug, on the historic ironage farm - Jernaldergården, with a beautiful view of the sagafjord Hafrsfjord. Even if the farm is a few hundred years older than the vikingage it gives a fantastic setting and suronding for a vikingmarked. The buildings , fields, sheep, atmosphere and not least the view will make this an excellent site for our annual kaupang. Plenty of visitors, among them guests from 5-6 visiting cruiseships, will give the tradrers many buyers and the fighters and archers a sufficient audience. |

The irong age farm at Ullandhaug The Iron Age Farm at Ullandhaug is a reconstructed farm complex from the time of the Great Migrations, approximately AD 350-550. The farmstead is located on the top of Ullandhaug, around 3 km from the centre of Stavanger, and has a magnificent view of North-Jæren and the Hafrsfjord. The Iron Age Farm at Ullandhaug, the only one of its kind in Norway, was reconstructed on the tofts of a farmstead from the Migration Period. The three houses are fitted up with equipment and domestic utensils, and a fire is burning on the original hearths.
